There have been many requests for me to create a “mini” organizing challenge “series”, for you to keep control of your home organization. So last month I decided it was time. I have a whole list of mini organizing challenges, thanks to your recommendations on the facebook group. These challenges are going to be simple and should not take too much time to complete. The goal is to get your home organized & cleaned a little at a time, without the headache of a large project to complete all at once. I hope you’ll join me each week and get your nooks and crannies organized, right along with thousands of other ABFOL fans. If you have any questions, concerns, or need a little extra support while beginning the journey of organizing your life, join ABFOL Facebook community (here). There are over 10,000 others who are in the same situation as you.
THE UTENSIL DRAWER
Today we are in the kitchen, cleaning and organizing the utensil drawer. This drawer can get out of hand, fast! This assignment may not seem like much, but after its finished, you will have a smile on your face every time you open up this drawer. Empty your utensil drawer and give it a good scrub down. Wash your utensil organizer with soap and water. Then put everything back all nice and neat. Some things probably don’t even belong in the drawer. Find them a new home and keep this drawer simple and clean.
My flatware is from “Fiestaware”. I found the colorful bowls at Ikea. I love the bright colors.

This is the perfect “small” challenge. Until I am finished teaching, I love these “baby steps” Thanks so much. I collect fiesta ware so I am about to clink into the link about the silverware. Thanks so much for your blog.
Wow, how timely…I just did this before I went to work 🙂
Love how colorful it is!
I love the idea of mini challenges! Snowball approach. I am on it! I have also started keeping a small canister on the table that holds the forks and spoons we use the most often, less table setting required, score!
I just get amazed at how dirty the utensil drawers get. it grosses me out to pull out a spoon and see the amount of dried up food at the bottom 🙂 Great post, easy to clean and do quickly when you don’t have a lot of time to work on the whole kitchen. As a side note, on your silverware, do you have trouble with the colored pieces falling out, it got mixed reviews on Amazon, love the look though
I know Angel, I have always wondered how all those little bits of food get in there when you are putting in clean dishes…insanity at its finest!
I’m off to work on mine, I have both “utensil drawers” and drawers with all the things like can openers, plus one in the china cabinet. I think I can!
Such a quick little project! I did this while waiting for the juice from the canned tomatoes to reduce while I cooked supper. I’ve been meaning to get to it for ages. Thanks for the reminder!
Not sure if this mini organizing is on your list but I always have a hard time organizing/keeping clean and tossing things that are in the cooking utensil drawer. Where and how do you manage all of your gadgets (manual can opener, spatulaS, large spoons, cooking thermometer, measuring cups……and the list goes on.
check out Toni’s post about her gadgets here
This post of yours actually cost me money!! 🙂 because I fel head over heels in love with the Fiesta flatware and had to have it. And as I live in Europe, freight and taxes cost as much as the flatware itself, but now I have it in my (of course nicely organised…) kitchen drawer 🙂
And it cheers me up every time I open the drawer!
How often will these be posted? Will they be sent out via email or do I need to check FB?
Right now Im doing the plain and simple organizing challenges. Usually weekly you can find a new challenge on my blog. Today is a new one. 🙂
