Pottery Barn used to sell these cute number pillows. They were $99 for a set of 4 pillows. I surely wasn’t going to pay that price, so I made them myself. This is a simple project that only takes about a hour to complete.

I used painters drop cloth for the fabric.
Just put the pillow on the fabric and cut about 2 inches past the edge of the pillow, down each side. Then wrap the fabric (top to bottom) around the pillow leaving about a 5″ overlap. Pin the fabric inside-out & sew away.
Flip it right side out. Voala!
I used card stock to make the number template.
I printed out the numbers from photoshop (with a very light color, so I wouldn’t waste ink). I used the Bodoni font. Im thinking it was around 1000 percent or so?
I cut them out with a paring knife. (very carefully)
Then I stamped the stencil with fabric paint.
I let the pillows dry overnight then flipped them inside out and ironed them for about 30 seconds to set the paint. As you can see in the picture below, I didn’t want solid numbers.. so I stamped them lightly to look more distressed and used.

Yes. Drop cloth is cheap and great to use for slipcovers and pillows. I got that tip from miss mustard seed. Im going to be covering those striped chairs in slipcovers soon. I cant wait to show everyone. 🙂

This is such a great idea! Making pillow covers would be new to me so I have a couple questions. 1.How many pillows can you make out of 1 drop cloth? 2.Do the covers wash well?
