We have organized our medicine cabinets, organized under our bathroom sinks and now we are going to organize our medicine & vitamin storage. Some of you may have already done this if you store your medicine in your medicine cabinets (I do not). So if you havn’t done so, now is a great time to do it.
If you are new to the challenge, click on the button below to see what it’s all about and join in!
My challenge for you:
-take your before picture
-take everything out from wherever you put your medicine/vitamins
-this is an important step… throw out all expired medicine & vitamins.
I had A LOT!
-Wipe it all out
-Categorize your medicine into sub-categories:
(My categories: first aid, wraps, childrens meds, pain & fever, eyes/ears/nose/skin)
-label your containers
-take your after picture
My Challenge pictures…
My medicine & vitamin supplements go above my oven. Its an out of reach area from the kids.
Since Im an RN, I like to have my nursing & drug reference guides close to my medications… in case I need to look up a newly perscribed med. I also keep my pediatrics book here.
My daily vitamin supplement regimin:
Vitamin D– (Everyone should take in the winter months)
Vitamin B Complex– (I do not eat a lot of meat & B12 only comes from animals)
Nutriferon– (Immune system booster- a must in the winter time)
Vitalizer– (The best spectrum of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, omega 3’s, probiotics, & phytonutrients)
CO-Q10- (supports cardiovascular health… I have high BP so this is essential for me)
Vitamin C– (a powerful antioxidant that supports heart health & immune function)
*If you have any questions about my vitamin regimin, you can email me here.
I am very into whole eating & whole living, so I believe that our first way to get nutrients should be through fruits and vegetables… But we don’t always eat the correct amount of nutrition that our bodies need. This is where supplementation comes in. I am VERY picky when it comes to supplements for my family. You will not find quality whole food supplements at your local walmart or Target. I only use Shaklee vitamins & supplements because they are made from whole foods. This is an important concept to understand. Synthetic vitamins are TOXIC to our bodies! They are made through chemical processes, rather than derived directly from plants. If your vitamins don’t say “made from whole foods” they are no good for you! You are better off not taking any.
I categorized our medications into separate boxes. Its SUPER easy to get what you need fast!
Make sure to dispose of your medications correctly!
We had A LOT of out of date medications in here. Im glad I organized this space.
I purchased these blue containers from walmart for $2.50 each.
Thats our medicine & vitamin cabinet. I can’t wait to see yours! I love getting new ideas.
Don’t forget to vote today! Just click on the box and your vote is cast!

Looks great! I am an RN too. what kind of nursing do you do? I wish I still had my peds book, but threw it out way before kids.
Another tip: look for supplements & vitamins wit USP logo on the bottle. These you can trust have been tested by US
Pharmacopia.
I was wondering if Shaklee vitamins were made from whole foods or not; good to know. Loved your tips for everyone on not taking synthetic vitamins… the media is so misleading about all these things! We’ve been taking Garden of Life, but I’ve been looking for a new vitamin D supplement. Glad to know Shaklee has one.
I love your containers for your medicine cupboard, I may have to copy you!
I have heard that store medication stored over the oven is not good for the medication is this true? Does it decrease the potency? I love all your ideas and have been lurking for a while! Thanks for all the organizational ideas, it has really jump started my desire to get organized!!
I never thought to put medicines there – we keep ours in the pantry mostly, a few in the bathroom, too.
I have been looking at Shaklee vitamins. I have been looking for a multi-vitamin, but didn’t find any. I had been taking One A Day and no matter what I would feel absolutely sick and nauseous within ten minutes of taking them everyday – no matter how much food was in my tummy! I got rid of those. I would like to find something to take daily that fills in the gap for my eating – like a multivitamin. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks…looks so lovely again!

Organizing Made Fun
I know I shouldn’t be by now, but I’m so amazed at how well stocked and organised this space is! I got to get me a proper medicine cabinet stocked with everything you need for two 2 year old boys! Thanks for sharing these tips with us.
Angie, I did open heart for a few years and now I work at an upscale retirement community… which I LOVE!! Thanks for the tip too!
Emily, thats true! The same thing with the bathroom. IF it gets too hot, it can “possibly” lower the effectiveness of the meds. My cabinet above my microwave doesnt seem to get hot. I have good ventillation, but since you reminded me.. .im going to check again. π
Becky, I emailed you. Vitalea is the whole food multivitamin from Shaklee.
I store my supplements in the pantry next to the spices. Somewhere dark and cool is the best place. I was wondering about the shaklee supplements. We are currently taking standard process because my nutritionist recommends what to take according to what is going on with our health. I think I might check out shaklee’s prices to see if its cheaper. I’m currently spending a little over $100 a month on supplements!
Thats very smart. Stay in tune with your body and treat it to what it needs. Just remember, you get what you pay for! So, $100 a month isn’t unreasonable for a “quality” vitamin regimin. You are either paying the vitamin company or paying the pharmaceutical company! π Id be happy to assist you with finding the right Shaklee vitamins. Just let me know.
what a great idea to keep them up there. We store ours under the bathroom sink with those pesky locks. π I need to lable our containers {the sames ones as you!} so that my husband knows what is where.
That looks great. I love having the organized and labeled bins. Even when the grandparents are babysitting they can find meds or first aid quickly.
I couldn’t believe how much expired medication I had too.
Hey Toni! I see that others have mentioned the heat and how it can affect your vitamins…I have the same issue because I store my extra condiments and spices over my microwave/stove area. One thing that was making my area hot was leaving the “surface light” on so now I only use it when I’m actually cooking and this has helped alot. Winter months are harder cause it gets so dark so darn early π I don’t have any kids at home any more so I can leave my meds/vitamins in the bathroom med cabinet. ALSO I use a knife box/cutlery tray with apothecary jars to store my vitamins. I used my label maker and printed the recommended daily dosages and every morning I put together the vitamins that my DH and I take in little bins so that we remember to take our vitamins throughout the day. I blogged about my storage/organization last June so I’ve added the link here if that’s okay with you. I also agree with you that taking good quality vitamins are so worth it! Have a great day, fondly, Roberta
Having issues with where my linky goes…or actually maybe I’m just distracted by the screaming 14 month old at my feet. ha! Sorry, you can remove my link that is spice cabinet reorg it is in the wrong spot on this post. I moved it to the correct one.
You have a great system. I need to label my baskets. I will have to check out my vitamins and what all they have in them…thanks for the information.
I was wondering where you found your storage containers with the handles on them..the clear ones with the blue lids? Those are so neat for medicine storage. I would love to find them here. Thanks.
Pamela, I got the storage containers from walmart but target has them too!!
Toni π
It is a nice lemon box. Lemon has so many health benefits. Lemon contain the source of vitamin C. Juice of half a lemon mixed in a glass of warm water and a teaspoon of honey is good for weight loss.

Hi Toni,
I found your blog entry on Pinterest. Decided to try organizing the medicine cabinet portion of our hall closet. I will be trying some of your other methods this summer!
