Bathroom necessities can pile up and waste much needed space. This week, I am going to show you how to get control of these items in a beautiful, stylish & organized way. I was given an opportunity to work with Command Brand during 2014 & I will be showing you different ways that you can use their clever products in your home. You will see many Command posts here at A Bowl Full of Lemons over the next several months. Keep reading to see how I used their products to clean up and organize my bathroom closet.
I began my organization with the closet door. Often times, this space is forgotten. Using 2 Command Large Towel Hooks, I created an organized space to hang our wet towels after each shower. It’s a functional space and works perfectly for us.
I created “His” & “Hers” chalkboard labels so there’s no confusion about which towel is mine. Hanging the Command Large Towel hooks & making my own labels was super easy and it was done in no time. Below, I will give you directions on how to replicate this idea.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR BATHROOM DOOR ORGANIZATION
1. Gather supplies. You will need paint & a paint brush, chalkboard tags & chalk, 2 Command Large Towel Hooks, and 2 Command Picture Hanging Strips.
2. Paint chalkboard tags with desired color.
3. Select your location. Will you be hanging the towels on the back of the bathroom door or on the closet door?
4. According to Command’s instructions, clean surface with isopropyl rubbing alcohol.
5. Following Command product instructions, hang Command Large Towel hook on door. First press red liner to back of hook, then press black liner to door (Hold for 10 seconds). For maximum strength, slide off hook and press firmly for 30 seconds. Wait for 1 hour before use.
The reason why I love Command products so much is because they are ideal for damage-free organizing. They don’t leave any holes or marks if I need to remove them. Also, in the bathroom, they will withstand the humidity that the shower gives. They are great products.
6. Following Command product instructions, attach picture hanging strip to chalkboard tag & secure to door. First, press the fasteners together until they click. Then remove one green liner and press on chalkboard tag (press firmly for 30 seconds). Grab tag at bottom and peel off surface. Press strip for 30 seconds and wait 1 hour before mounting tag again. Press firmly until it clicks.
7. Write “His” & Hers” on chalkboard labels (purchased at JoAnnes) & hang towels.
Next its time to organize your bathroom products. I used plastic shoe boxes. You can find them just about anywhere. Label & organize your products into designated bins.
Finally, don’t forget about your guests. Keep a basket tucked away for new towels & wash cloths. Nobody wants to wash with someone else’s dirty wash cloths. (Basket purchased at Target)
In just a small amount of time, you can create a fabulously organized bathroom closet with Command Products & organizing bins. I am very happy with the results of this small project. Happy Organizing!

I agree, love the command products. I use them everywhere. I do have my hall bathroom closet arrange similarly, but supplies are in regular shoes boxes with printed labels. I am repurposing a three piece wall unit, light glass tops on end pieces, with closed bottoms, center piece was for TV will be retro fitted with shelving and all three sections are closed. I am repainting and decoupaging toile fabric on the raised lower panels an will be using all three units together on one wall for my shoe and handbag storage. This frees up about 50 clear plastic shoe boxes. I will take your idea and swap out my plastic shoe boxes for the cardboard ones in the bathroom closets. I love the idea of a basket of towels for guests, I would go one further and have another basket with bedding for guests . Thanks for the tips. Love to be organized. To make this system work for you, take inventory of what you have in your space and then put like items together. Make your space hold the perfect amount of boxes/bins by having just the right amount of categories.
Could you give an example of categories? This is my road block.

I love this idea! Except my only storage for bathroom supplies would be under the sinks. I still think the shoeboxes (or something smaller) would work for that space. (I think anything would be better than just throwing stuff under there). You have given some wonderful ideas about bathroom storage. Even if it doesn’t work perfectly for me. Thanks!!

I love your bathroom storage Toni !!! We just bought our first house, and the bathroom closet has a funny shape so I have 4 triangle shelves way in the back that don’t hold much and a waste of space in the front. Going to try to see if I can change the wire shelves out for a rectangle for more space. Might have to try my hand at a custom fit. Never done this before, but I need the space desperately. Next will come the wonderful shoeboxes and labels. Thanks for the inspiration.

using clear tape in a label maker and then placing them on a Martha Stewart label from Staples.
I ADORE Command hooks-so much. I wish they made more of their “fun” ones-we have Superman and Batman for certain things. I use them everywhere. My most recent perfect spot was the plastic bag holder-popped 2 “picture hanger” Velcro tabs on the back and voila! Went up like a charm. And when the littlest kids pull a little too hard…..I just align the tabs and push it back on. Command hooks are the best.
How many guest towels do you keep in the basket?
how many towels you keep on hand will depend on how frequently you have house guests and how many at one time.
LOVE! My bathroom closet is probably a bit smaller with wood shelves. I do believe I am going to talk to hubby about putting in the wire shelves. Have some plastic tubs already but my towels are everywhere!

What’s the best way to organize tall bottles that need to stand up? I’m assuming she houses these items elsewhere.
About a year or two ago, I got some great bins from the Dollar Tree that are about the same size as a shoe box, but they’re taller and no lid. They also have a handle on the skinny end. Perfect for pulling off the shelf and great for the taller items! That’s where I have all my cleaners, hair care, etc items that don’t fit into smaller boxes as easily. 🙂
I love this post so much! Inspired me to run over to Dollar Tree and I bought up half of their stock of plastic shoeboxes! I thought I had this organization thing down, but for some reason I keep buying lid-less containers for storage all over the house, and I’m losing the vertical space on shelves for stacking! These shoeboxes are perfect, and I’ve already doubled the amount of storage space available in my closet. I’m going to work on some cute labels for them this week after I get more boxes! 🙂

Thank you for your insight. I hope that you can take the organization tips in this post and use it for the space that you are fortunate to have. Not everyone has every space that Toni shares but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t share how she organizes them.
Just a small note: medicine should not be kept in the bathroom. I know most people do (I did, too, for a long time) but medicine goes bad quickly when put in a place where temperature and humidity changes a lot – like in a bathroom. You should find a cool, dry place to store these items, e.g. the bedroom, which is usually kept cool.
I have just done this in my pantry and my bathroom closet. The only difference I made was I got some washi tape at hobby lobby that was a chalk board tape! And used that to label my boxes. I figured I might be changing what is in them, and can easily erase and adjust. I also decorated with washi tape.
