Welcome to our very first “ORGANIZED SPACE” of the week! Each Monday I will introduce a new guest & their fabulously organized space. Today my guest is Becky from Organizing Made Fun! She shares how she transformed her dated office into a posh workspace.
I’m Becky and I blog at Organizing Made Fun. As a blogger, it’s super important that I have a nice place to work from home — as I’m working on my computer at a desk for many hours each day. My office went from pretty ugly before to super amazing after of the desk:
And then, the other side is a small library area:
I tried to get resourceful and organize with things I had on hand. I kept it simple.
And even made my plain file boxes dressed up with fabric.
And small bowls to organize the little things.
I love it! It’s so nice to work here now! To see more details, you can visit here.
With a little paint and a lot of design power, Becky has transformed her office from totally 90’s to totally chic! You can do the same thing by choosing a color palate of 2-3 colors, matching fabric for pillows, slipcovers, curtains, etc… & repurposing your old office furniture with a can of paint! Thanks for sharing Becky! Visit more of Becky’s hundreds of organizing ideas at her blog, Organizing Made Fun!
If you would like to share your organized space, send an email with a picture of your space along with a link to your blog to organizedspacesabfol@gmail.com. If you don’t have a blog, thats okay, you can still share!

I love the new look! So pretty!
The interior design aspect of organizing is something I’m not very good at. Being a guy, I tend to see things as functional or not. Understanding that how a space looks is ever bit as important as how well it functions will take some effort on my part. Thanks for reminding me!
I absolutely love what you do!! But how can I start organizng my office (and house for that matter)?
I teach and I feel buried in papers, markers, handouts, etc! I know every room has potential, but where do you start, especially if you don’t have the “organization/decoration” gene in you? =)
Claudia! {I love that name!} Isn’t this site a great one? I was just reading your reply and couldn’t help but jump in to offer some advice. Where to start? When organizing anything, remember how you eat an elephant – one bite at a time. So pick that one room and that one area of that one room that is really driving you nuts and start by removing what you know doesn’t belong — what is trash, what is to be recycled, or what belongs in another room — get it all out and you’ll likely find that what is left is much more manageable. As for the papers and markers, etc., be sure to purge what isn’t working well or that which you don’t need to keep (paper often falls in that category) and group your like items together. This way you will see the whole picture a bit better — just how much of everything you have and subsequently need to store — and can start to contain them in appropriate containers to be stored in that room.
Good luck! And remember, there is no organizing gene — just a desire to want to live life in an organized way. If you want to be organized, you can be. I promise. 🙂
