After many votes, we finally decided that our book club pick for the month of May is The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. You can purchase through ABFOL’s Amazon store (here) for under $10 or at your local book store. If you are not a member of ABFOL’s Book Club, you can join (here) on our Good reads Book Club page. We regularly post updates on our Book Club Facebook page (here). I will post the date of our first meeting soon.
Happy Reading!

Awesome! My librarian handed it to me tonight (I had put it on hold) when I came in with my son to pick out new books! She said I am gonna love it!
You will love this book. I read it a year ago. I wrote the author as I wanted her to know what a great book it was and I really liked her style of writing ~she wrote back and is in the process of writing a sequel. Parts of it are hard to read, but it is a reality. Enjoy! Great choice.
have read the book already, and i must say, it is amazing. it will be a great read and discuss book…..couldnt have recommended a better book ;o) enjoy!!!
I will be interested to hear how you liked it. I loved this book and found it hard to put down. The story was good and moved fairly quickly. Enjoy!
FYI: I’m visiting from the Chits and Giggles Blog hop. 🙂
I have this on my shelf, I will have to read it when I finish the book I started today!
Just purchased this book I will be reading before bed every night. Can’t wait to see how this book club works for me. Thanks you for having this book club.
I have now read about 1/3 of the book. I love it, I truly do. In no time at all the characters come to life and you are positive that you personally know them. One criticism however, is this. There is almost too much action, there are a lot of events happening in rapid succession. That means that I don’t want to put the book down, but on the other hand, it is a bit hard to digest one event before another one takes place. I wonder if anyone else finds this to be the case.
I have now finished the book. Is anyone going to discuss this book on here? Share your thoughts?
Loved this book! Became attached to each character, felt that they came to life in the pages as I read. Good lessons in overcoming obstacles.
I loved it! I couldn’t wait for morning so I could start reading again. I also cried at parts…it’s that good!
