Vintage number decor… (with my silhouette machine)

March 22, 2011
Everywhere we look these days: in magazines, blogs, stores, etc… we see numbers.  Its all the craze. They are fun & charming, but a lot of times carry a hefty price tag.

I decided to try making some {number} decor myself (with my Silhouette SD Machine). There’s NO WAY I’m going to pay those prices for home decor. What would Dave Ramsey think of me? lol.  I consider myself pretty crafty, so it couldn’t be that hard, right? 😉

You can find these jars {here]. They are priced at $79.

Targets numbered jars

Here is my attempt at number jars.  I got my jars for $3.00 at Goodwill. I ran them through the dishwasher and they look like new again!  I didn’t like how big the numbers were in the above picture, so I made mine quite a bit smaller.  I think they turned out great, for $3.00!

Here are the pitchers, $59 for the set of 3…

Im on the lookout at Goodwill for some white pitchers now!

While I was numbering my kitchen, I kept on going and numbered the chairs 1-4. 😉  Getting a little crazy with the numbers, I know… but at LEAST the vinyl is just a “sticker” and comes off easy.

The jars are absolutely fabulous. Finding suitable jars at Goodwill is a shopping triumph.

I have chairs like yours, the oak style with the carving that really got popular about twenty years ago. I’ve been thinking about painting them white, but wasn’t sure if it would go well with all the carving. Seeing yours has reassured me that it would work out fine. Did you spray paint yours? I was thinking of doing liquid sandpaper and then spray painting.

  12. Toni says:

We brushed the paint on ours, but Im sure you could also spray paint. Painters touch spray paint has a color called Heirloom white. Its awesome!

  14. VERY impressive! I love your thrifty project with the jars and the chairs both! When I was in Napa, I picked up some white ceramic napkin rings, each with a black number on them. I actually stacked them and displayed them in my hutch when not in use!

  15. Toni says:

Amy, I would love to see a picture of you rings. 😉
